F/W 2016 Sneak Peek: Fusion Collection

One of the best things about making jewelry is that there are literally a million ways to make it. There's always new techniques to try, ways to get better at what I do and fresh methods to make beautiful, effortlessly gorgeous pieces. As an artist one of my favorite things is to innovate. To make something I've never seen before anywhere else, and to bring a new perspective to existing work that expands it to cool new heights.

That's why I'm SO excited about my new collection! Building on my previous work with 14k gold-fill and sterling silver in minimalist shapes comes a new, exclusive-to-Strut-Jewelry collection that fuses gold and silver together in the same piece; the Fusion Collection! Here's a sneak peek!

As you can see, this isn't just attaching a gold circle and a silver circle to the same necklace! These pieces are truly mixed metal, with each piece of metal forming a continuous single shape.

From a metal-smithing perspective, this technique is a bit on the tricky side. Since gold and silver heat up at different rates, getting both pieces to the right temp at the right time in order to melt the solder (think of solder as the 'glue' that holds metal together) was difficult to work out. There is virtually no information available about how to do this, so it really has been a challenge - which I LOVE. My absolute favorite thing in life is that moment when you ask yourself, "Hmmm, I wonder if I can do this?" Sometimes it doesn't work out, but man, when it does, doesn't it feel great?!

These guys will pair perfectly with your existing gold and silver pieces, and also offer a fresh take on the minimalist jewelry trend that's still going strong (with no signs of quitting!). Up-level your jewelry mixing and layering with these unique mixed metal necklaces, bracelets and earrings, which also provide the perfect entry-point for those who are new to metal mixing. It literally couldn't be easier, plus they just look really, really cool :)

Watch for these and more pieces to be online very soon! And I'd love to know what you think of my new gold and silver fusion technique and the collection!! Tell me in the comments! xo

I am a big fan! I love the versatility of it – as well as the texture in these particular pieces. I think there may be a new necklace in my future! ;)
